Day 3: North of the Arctic Circle

"While I wake up I enjoy the fantastic view out of the train. There's nothing else like white and deserted tundra. The trees are all under deep snow and the sun is rising up very slowly."

"I have to wait for my train to Katterjåkk. Meanwhile I buy a telephone-card and try to phone home from the public speaker. Unfortunately is seems to be frozen or something like that. Without gloves I dial the number many times and after this I think my fingers are becoming ice. Well, how could I be so stupid? Before this travel people told me never to touch metallic things with bare fingers in this extreme coldness.

In the evening I hop out of the train in Katterjåkk. The train had to make an extra-stop at this stations and I discover soon that I am the only one who is leaving the train here. There are no footsteps in the snow. Ok, I go to the only house in this "village" which is lightened. It's the tourist station.
I ask: "Sorry, is it possible to sleep here for one night?"
The old man answers: "Well, you're only one person?"
"Yes."
"That should be possible. But normally we have closed at this time. The season begins in two weeks and the only persons living here are me and the two people from the weather-station."
...crazy..."
